Richy Escapes 100ft
of rope and knots!
It was late May 2009 when the deputy fire chief of the Weyburn fire department placed a call into Magic 103.5 FM. The local fire fighters wanted to challenge Richy Roy to a daring escape stunt at the upcoming "Relay for Life" event, to be held on June 5th at Riverside Park.
Eight of Weyburn's best fire fighters had practised for weeks on how to tie up Saskatchewan's escape artist. Using their own rope and their expert knowledge in knot tying, the crew went to work on Richy Roy, tying him very tightly to the chair in front of a very enthusiastic crowd.
After some intense struggling, it looked as if Richy would be unable to liberate himself. But using his cunning ability to make impossible escapes, he started to rock the chair back and forth to the point that it BROKE!!! This gave him enough slack to work at the knots and free himself for a surprise finish!
Another challenge, another successfull escape!!!
